APM Terminals commenced operations in Nigeria in March, 2006. Apapa is Nigeria’s largest port and contains a number of wharfs. To date, the staff comprises over 700 highly skilled and motivated foreign and local staff. We stand for operational excellence – from modern equipment, facilities, advanced technology and proven processes and terminal management. We are currently looking for an individual who share our commitment to providing services that are second-to-none.
This position offers an outstanding opportunity to join the global team at APM Terminals Apapa and contribute to the success of the organization. The position reports to the Vessel Supervisor.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lashing and unlashing of containers and cargo on board vessels, following safe methods, including wearing PPE, and meeting productivity standards.
Fitting and taking off twist locks under the cranes
Manual loading and discharging of cargo to or from ships or containers.
Performs duties related to yard clean up on a regular basis.
General stevedoring of goods and materials in vessels, warehouses, vehicles and containers.
Hook-on and hook-off cargo to hoisting gear.
Signals crane for hoisting gear.
Maintain all the Lashing Gear in good condition and return to Gear Locker after finishing work
YOUR PROFILE
Completion of secondary school
Requires ability to learn fast.
Must be physically fit, meeting a rigorous medical examination. The job is physically demanding and labor intensive.
Must be able to work at heights.
Must be able to work in rotating shifts.
Requires Basic English language skills.
Good eyesight and hand eye coordination.
